Here we wanted to explore whether the biology captured by our prognostic test, Thyroid GuidePx, was present in radiation induced PTC. We interrogated data from 344 patients with PTCs linked to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident. Using the Thyroid GuidePx algorithm, we found that radiation-induced PTCs are remarkably similar to sporadic PTCs. Just like in sporadic PTCs, Type 3 cancers have the most aggressive features. Many are driven by RET fusions. Interestingly, the molecular pathways perturbed with each molecular subtype are also similar to sporadic PTCs. This is another cohort that validates the interesting biology captured by Thyroid GuidePx.
