Qualisure Diagnostics wins two international pitch competitions at INVENTURE$ 2019
Inventures is Alberta Innovates’ signature innovation event in Calgary. Over three days, Inventures 2019 brought together venture capitalists, angel investors, startups, entrepreneurs, service providers and thought leaders. The multi-stream and multi-disciplinary conference spanned the spectrum of industry sectors, including digital and emerging technologies. Over 3,000 people attended the conference from 36 different countries. Meeting attendees heard from 235 speakers in over 100 sessions.
Thirty companies pitched their best ideas and innovations to an expert panel hoping to take home one of the $10,000 prizes. A team of judges made up of respected venture capitalists, selected the winners. Our team, Dr. Oliver Bathe, Dr. Farshad Farshidfar, Dr. Cynthia Stretch, David Bocking, and Brandon Friedt of Qualisure Diagnostics Inc. were winners of the start-up pitch competition, securing first place in the Designing Health Systems Category for a $10,000 prize.
The TENET i2C Medical Discovery pitch competition was also held at Inventures. For the past four years, the TENET Innovation to Commercialization (TENET i2c) program has provided funding and training to University of Calgary researchers, clinicians, postdocs, graduate students and staff to transform their health research into a commercial product. Our team secured third place in the TENET i2C medical discovery pitch competition for another $10,000 prize.
